All Things are Possible with IoT

Posted: 22nd May 2017 09:54

The Internet of Things(IoT) is a phenomenon that is sweeping the world. If you are unsure of what it is, it’s simply the interconnectedness of everyday items on the internet. We have washers, refrigerators, heating and cooling systems, and vehicles that can be turned on, off, and adjusted with the use of Wi-Fi and a Bluetooth connection.  With the vast variety of functions within IoT, many believe it to be something that cannot be contained, manipulated, or even managed well. The reality is, it’s easy to manage and easy for even the most technologically challenged person.

Management Help Is Not Far

For business owners, managing the IoT can be a headache if you get lost the vastness of all the things that are connected. There are a growing number of companies, such as Fathym, that make the management easy with their own applications and software that simplify everything for you. There is everything from fleet management to simple permissions management. With everything so connected, business owners must jump on board with management systems that are designed to handle those things that are interconnected. Starting your own IoT management service or application is easier than ever!

Small Entrepreneurs Can Do It Too!

If you are an entrepreneur (or desiring to be an entrepreneur), the IoT framework is perfect for helping you start right from your garage, basement, or desk in the living room. The key is to look for a need that should be filled. It can be the simplest of things such as an app designed to help with rerouting for local traffic to more complex as an app that allows a manager to access all computers on the network to manage who has permissions to certain information. Because of the vastness of IoT there are plenty of needs to fulfill and starting it is so easy.

First, research what other companies are doing! It’s easy to see how they designed their systems and mimic them. You don’t have to create the same exact product but taking notice of their functions is an immense help for you. No need to re-create the wheel!

Secondly, focus on some sort of need. At some point in time, the idea of cars talking to one another to avoid accidents seemed like an implausible dream. But now, developers are well on their way to perfecting that into a reality. At some point in your life, you have said “I wish I could….” Or “if only my phone could….”. That’s your ticket. If you get stuck, ask your friends or family the one thing they wish they could do with their appliances, vehicles, or phones.

Once you have achieved that idea, work at raising capital and setting yourself up as a legitimate business. This will be the hardest part of the entire endeavor but if you have a viable dream of creating something that uses IoT, it will be a success and you will be able to find investors to help you make that dream come true.

The Internet of Things is a relatively new term for the layperson. As you learn more about the framework and designs, share that knowledge with others so that they understand your dream better. It’s something that is in our lives now and will not be going away in the future!
