A new $4 billion Chinese-themed resort will open on the Las Vegas strip by 2018.  The 87-acre complex is the brainchild of Asian gaming Giant, Genting, and is already under construction.  Resorts World Las Vegas will occupy the area next to Circus Circus, on the site of the unfinished Echelon development mothballed by Boyd Gaming back in 2008. The project aims to spur a revitalisation of the strip’s north end.

The new mega resort will showcase China’s people and religions, offering3,500 guest rooms, an outdoor amphitheatre, a replica of the Great Wall of China and a possible panda habitat.  There’s also a rumour of a terracotta army exhibit.  The main casino will stretch over two storeys.  Several luxury restaurants and a shopping arcade will offer connections between the casino and accommodation towers.

After many setbacks, Project spokesman Stefan Friedman has now confirmed that Resorts World Las Vegas is back on schedule.

“It’s been a busy year, and we’re trying to be thoughtful about the development,” he said.
Although little known in the west, the Gentings Resorts Brand is an Asian gaming industry powerhouse.  The company operates casinos in the Bahamas, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and the United Kingdom.
