Accenture acquires Melbourne Oracle partner Redcore

Accenture has acquired 130-staff Redcore, a Melbourne-headquartered IT consulting business that specialises in Oracle.

The takeover, for an undisclosed sum and subject to certain closing conditions, will bring Accenture a strong suit in cybersecurity, especially identity and access management services.

Redcore's client base includes major Australian banks and government agencies, for which it has deployed "multiple large-scale cybersecurity solutions, including multi-factor authentication and secure application gateways", according to a statement. The six-year-old company was last year named on the ICT Professional Services panel for the Treasury Portfolio.

The IT firm's other partners include a host of software and security vendors, including CA Technologies, BMC Software, SailPoint, HID Global, IdenTrust, Axway, Intelledox and Thycotic. It boasts offices in Australia, India, New Zealand, the Philippines and Singapore.

Redcore co-founder Joseph Failla said: “We are excited to become part of Accenture Security and to bring our proven deep, highly-specialised skills and services to strengthen Accenture’s IAM and other cybersecurity offerings.

The deal echoes the Australian acquisition strategy of 'Big Four' consultancy Deloitte, which has also focused on deals in the Oracle channel. Deloitte in 2015 acquired Qubit Consulting, another IT provider specialising in Oracle stack that helped Deloitte lay claim to the largest identity access management (IAM) practice in Australia.

Last September, Accenture acquired Cloud Sherpas, one of fastest-growing and most respected cloud solution providers in the world and a significant partner of Google and Salesforce.
