Fortinet acquires security analytics firm AccelOps

Posted: 8th June 2016 08:24

IT security vendor Fortinet has acquired AccelOps, makers of network security monitoring and analytics software. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

AccelOps is known as a provider of SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) technology. The company makes both cloud-based and on-premise software that correlates security and network data into a common view. AccelOps currently has "hundreds of clients" across enterprise, government, and managed service provider segments.

As for Fortinet, the company said the acquisition will give customers "greater visibility across both Fortinet and multi-vendor security solutions."

The deal also extends Fortinet's recently-unveiled Security Fabric strategy, in which the company is aiming to combine multi-vendor threat intelligence into a common security policy engine. Going forward, AccelOps will become FortiSIEM and become part of the Fortinet SecurityFabric.

"Fortinet and AccelOps share a common vision of providing holistic, actionable securityintelligence across the entire IT infrastructure," said Partha Bhattacharya, founder and chief technology officer for AccelOps.
