Frac Shack International Acquires Rigless Rentals’ MEP Division

Posted: 23rd February 2017 08:42

Frac Shack International (FSI) acquired the mobile elevating platform (MEP) division of Rigless Rentals Inc. These units, which will be rebranded The Wellevator, allow maneuverable dual hydraulic access to the wellhead while at height, according to a Feb. 21 press release.

The Wellevator design spans Gen 1, Mini Gen 1 and delux Gen 2. There are 21 patented Wellevators, the press release said.

Frac Shack is currently rebranding the MEP units and has trademarked the name Wellevator in Canada and the U.S. This new brand will be introduced to the market over the next several weeks, the press release said.

FSI and Frac Shack America operate a fleet of specialized automated refueling units for frack operations which utilize their patented Frac Shack technology.

Bob Outhwaite, president of Rigless Rentals, said the acquisition benefits the team, given the difficulties faced over the previous two years in the Western Canadian Basin. He said the growth model—16 new platforms added between 2011 and 2014—was affected by the downturn. The partnership with FSI will allow the growth model to continue, he said.
