Mike McGrory is a partner in SmithAmundsen’s Aerospace & Commercial Transportation Practice Group. His practice also encompasses the areas of commercial litigation, product liability, insurance litigation, and public entity and government liability. Mike has extensive experience in all phases of federal and state court litigation.

Mike began his law career as a prosecutor for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. Since entering private practice, Mike has represented airlines, airports, aircraft owners and manufacturers in lawsuits arising out of accidents all over the world. He has also litigated numerous general aviation lawsuits and handled business disputes for aviation companies.  

Mike has had a great deal of success in non-aviation cases, too, having represented governmental entities, insurers. insurance brokers, and companies of all types and sizes in tort litigation, and business disputes. Coming from a police family, Mike is especially proud of his work defending police officers in civil rights lawsuits. Mike has frequently secured early favorable settlements or outright dismissals on behalf of his clients, and also has substantial jury trial and appellate experience.  

Outside of the office, Mike serves as a commissioner on the Village of Homewood Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, as Chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s Aviation Law Committee, and on the Board of Directors for Mental Health America of Illinois. Mike also coaches for the Homewood-Flossmoor Soccer Club and the Homewood Baseball League.
