Growing out of parent company Environmental Science Group (ESG), Environmental Science Hygiene (ESH) was established in May 2020 specifically to research, develop and market highly effective hygiene and biocidal products. Just months after opening, the company branched out overseas, establishing ESH Nigeria alongside a manufacturing base for its products catering to both the European and African markets. At a time when the COVID-19 pandemic and all its health-related concerns were reaching alarming levels globally, ESH worked to introduce its incredible PalmTree Hygiene hand sanitiser – the first foaming hand sanitiser produced sustainably from palm tree sap. Especially suitable for clients operating in the healthcare and education sectors, including those working within care homes, public and private hospitals, dental clinics and schools, the PalmTree Hygiene hand sanitiser effectively combats germs and bacteria whilst deactivating viruses.
 
The judges praised ESH’s clear knack for innovation, with the company being the first to utilise plant-based ethanol that doesn’t damage the source it comes from in a highly potent formula. Its extraction process for the palm tree sap critically does not damage the tree itself, ensuring that the valuable agricultural land on which it stands can be used for the food production of years to come instead. Moreover, ESH is now working to replace all its plastic-based packaging with sustainable biomaterials strengthening its position as a truly eco-friendly company.
