Maloney Metalcraft Acquires Ormandy Group Assets
Aldridge-based Maloney Metalcraft has acquired some of the intangible assets of Ormandy Group from administrators KPMG.
Specialist design and engineering business Maloney Metalcraft, which works primarily in the oil & gas and energy markets, has purchased certain pieces of intellectual property (IP) and other assets from the Ormandy Group and will integrate them within its business.
Maloney Metalcraft’s parent business, Avingtrans PLC, has developed a reputation for turning around the fortunes of underperforming businesses in highly-regulated, engineering niche markets.
Austen Adams, managing director of Maloney Metalcraft, said: “Since its formation in 2000, Ormandy Group has developed a very good reputation for manufacturing high-quality products and providing excellent customer service.
"Unfortunately, challenging market conditions have taken their toll on the business over recent years.

It operates primarily in the HVAC, construction, offshore, defence, pharma and food processing markets.
Maloney Metalcraft, alongside its sister business Stainless Metalcraft, offers a one-stop shop for the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of systems for the oil and gas, nuclear, power, renewables, environmental and medical markets.
With UK facilities in Aldridge, West Midlands and Chatteris, Cambridgeshire; it specialises in the design and manufacture of pressure vessels, heat exchangers and filtration and separation components in a range of materials – from basic carbon steels through to high tensile steels, stainless steel, exotic alloys, high nickel alloys and aluminium.
The businesses’ in-house design and process engineering team has over 250 years’ combined experience, while its UK manufacturing facilities offer a heritage of nearly 170 years at the forefront of specialist vessel production.
A lower-cost facility in Chengdu, China is also dedicated to volume customers’ products. Supported by a ‘Safe Low Cost’ philosophy, customers benefit from global value sourcing while retaining the quality controls and strategic support of the division’s UK operations.
