SolarWinds acquires LogicNow

IT management software vendor SolarWinds has acquired rival LogicNow.

LogicNow focuses on subscription-bases SaaS products for MSPs including risk intelligence, remote management, backup and disaster recovery, mail and service desk.

The US-headquartered vendor was spun out from GFI Software in 2014 and rebranded its flagship product as MAXfocus, which also includes MAXRemoteManagement, MAXMail, MAXServiceDesk and MAXBackup.

As part of the deal, SolarWinds will merge its remote monitoring business N-able with LogicNow to create a new company called SolarWinds MSP.

The value of the acquisition was not disclosed.

The combined SolarWinds MSP claims to have more than 20,000 managed service providers globally with more than five million end-points and one million mailboxes.

SolarWinds global president and chief executive Kevin B Thompson said that acquiring LogicNow was the next step following the acquisition of N-able, which it bought in 2013.

"SolarWinds MSP, combining the capabilities of LogicNow and SolarWinds N-able, will offer MSPs a complete set of IT service management solutions via the cloud and on premises delivery models,” he said.

LogicNow global chief executive Walter Scott was appointed executive vice president of SolarWinds MSP.

"Our strategic vision and ability to execute will provide ever-greater support to our customers as they differentiate their services and look to achieve faster, more profitable business growth,” said Scott.

“We're excited to be able to join forces with SolarWinds N-able as part of the SolarWinds family to empower our MSP customers to build the most successful businesses in their markets."

SolarWinds was taken private in January when it was acquired by technology investment firms Silver Lake and Thoma Bravo for US$4.5 billion
