Open Top Sightseeing is part of an international organisation, solely focussed on providing the best sightseeing tours in the world's best cities.

Open Top Sightseeing began providing tours in early 2002. The business was founded by Les Cars Rouges, a successful sightseeing tour provider based in Paris. Les Cars Rouges recognised that visitors to Washington, D.C. would benefit from a hop-on, hop-off bus tour showcasing the city and connecting the many sights, attractions, museums and memorials.

The success of the Washington Tour encouraged Open Top Sightseeing to invest in other cities; tours in San Francisco and Las Vegas soon followed. In each location, Open Top Sightseeing has been able to give careful consideration to each city plan and to adapt the tour to present each destination in the best possible way.

In May 2011, Open Top Sightseeing and Les Cars Rouges merged with The Big Bus Company, a well established sightseeing provider with tours in London, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Shanghai and Hong Kong. The newly merged business is named Big Bus Tours.

The merger has enabled the business to share best practice between different tours from around the world and to ensure that you, the customer, enjoy great views on purpose built tour buses with the best commentary systems.

Big Bus Tours continues to improve its sightseeing tours around the world and to consider opportunities in new cities where visitors require a quality, trusted hop-on hop-off sightseeing tour provider.
