Shane is a very experienced maritime and international trade lawyer who has practised in those disciplines for over 40 years. Apart from dealing with “wet work” (collisions, salvage, groundings and wreck removals) and having personally been involved in most major marine casualties on the Southern African coast and as far up as East Africa during that period, he also deals with general admiralty claims and arrests, ship broking, non-contentious ship building, charter parties and ship purchase, mortgages and financing contracts as well as air law and cross border international trade.  Customs advice and litigation is also a particular focus of his expertise.

Service on Boards and Associations:  Shane is a member of MLA and past member of Exco.  He is a member of both the Chartered Institute of Ship Brokers and IBA and is honorary legal advisor to the Master Mariners Association.  Shane has published numerous papers on maritime and air law in specialist publications, whilst also contributing the South African chapters in two international publications on air law.
