James Burnett is an associate in the firm's Transportation and International Commerce group. His practice focuses on import and export compliance, as well as international transportation issues. He has worked with clients ranging from large multinational corporations to individual aircraft owners. 

James has assisted in the representation of U.S. and foreign clients before various regulatory agencies and committees, including Customs and Border Protection, the Department of State, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, and the Transportation Security Administration in both administrative and enforcement matters.

Prior to joining the firm, James worked for a boutique aviation law firm in Washington, D.C., where he concentrated on the representation of aviation industry clients, including foreign civil aviation authorities before the FAA. During law school he worked as a legal intern with the export control departments of two major defense contractors. Additionally James served as a legal extern with the Department of Commerce, Office of Chief Counsel for Industry and Security, and as a law clerk with the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Capitol Hill.
