Professional Details

Ms. Borrelli directs the firm’s Insurance Law practice group and is a member of the Labor and Employment practice group. Ms. Borrelli’s insurance practice is dedicated primarily to matters affecting the corporate regulatory, and enforcement aspects of insurance law. The scope of her insurance practice is comprehensive, involving a broad range of client engagements relating to both property-casualty and life, annuity and health, managed care and disability insurance and reinsurance matters. She works closely with attorneys in the firm’s taxation, employment law and benefits and workers’ compensation practice groups on issues relating to employee benefits and executive compensation, ERISA welfare benefit plans, (including insurance funding mechanisms for health and pension plans and plan designs), agent disputes and workers’ compensation benefits and related issues.  Ms. Borrelli is a member of the firm's Diversity Committee.

She has published and lectured on insurance-related topics before various national organizations and is an active participant in the activities of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. She has served as Chair of the Public Regulation of Insurance Law Committee of the Tort and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association, and as a Vice-Chair of the Life Insurance Law Committee. Ms. Borrelli served as Editor of the Public Regulation of Insurance Law Committee’s newsletter for 1991-1992; edited the third and fourth editions of the Reference Handbook on Insurance Company Insolvency (American Bar Association, 1993 and 1999); authored the Annual Survey for the Public Regulation of Insurance Law Committee in 1991 and 1994; served as Co-Chair of the 1999 and 2009 ABA Insurer Insolvency and Run-Off Seminars, respectively. She has authored various articles on insurer insolvency and guaranty funds, individual health reform, managed care regulation, insurer withdrawal, life insurance and annuity product development, and sales practice issues as well as multiple employer welfare arrangements and broker compensation and disclosure issues. She served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Regulatory Counsel for six years and remains active in that organization as Chair of the Admissions Committee; is a former member of the Legal Committee of the National Organization of Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Associations; and is a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel.
