Louise has specialised in insurance law advice and liability litigation for over 16 years. She has a particular expertise in advising on and defending professional negligence claims across a broad range of professional groups including medical, legal, financial services and construction. She also has significant experience in advising on and managing claims arising under directors' and officers' policies (dishonesty, fraud, breaches of director's duties, and claims arising from significant corporate administrations), as well as significant claims experience in public liability, product liability, industrial special risks and contract works. Louise's expertise encompasses multi-party claims and catastrophic injury and extends to representing clients at Coronial inquests.
Louise also has significant experience on a broad range of insurance advisory issues including review of complex insurance programs (including specialised policies) and advising on policy interpretation and coverage, policy drafting, advising on contractual risk assessment and drafting insurance/indemnity clauses in multi-party, multi-layer contracts, and advising on issues of co-insurance, reinsurance and excess insurance. Louise sees insurance as one of several tools which a client can employ to minimise business risk and applies a practical approach when providing advice.
