Denise Cafaro Hammond, the principal of Hammond Immigration Law, P.C., was named a Top 10 Immigration Attorney in Washington, D.C. by Legal Times and as one of the Washington D.C. Area’s Best Lawyers in The Washington Post and Washingtonian.  She has been ranked in Chambers International, Who’s Who in Corporate Immigration Law, and BestLawyers for many years.  Ms. Hammond has been invited to become a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation for outstanding achievement in the legal profession. Under her leadership, Hammond Immigration Law, P.C., specializes in all aspects of business immigration law and regularly serves the clients of major multinational law firms.

Ms. Hammond guest lectures at the George Washington University Law School and the American University College of Law. She served as Chair of the Annual Conference of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (“AILA”) in Vancouver, Canada, in 2008 and has held other AILA leadership appointments.  Ms. Hammond chaired the Immigration Section of the Bar Association of Montgomery County, Maryland, and was named Section Chair of the Year. She is widely published and lectures to legal audiences on business immigration matters. She began her career with the U.S. Department of Justice as a trial attorney in 1980 and received a Special Commendation from the Assistant Attorney General of the United States. She joined Pierson, Ball & Dowd (now Reed Smith) in 1983 and established her own practice in 1985. Her law practice was featured in the ABA Journal, and she has appeared on public television’s Law School for the Public. Ms. Hammond was an elected Delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business and counsel to the National Association of Women Business Owners Capitol Area Chapter.
