Stéphane Brabant is a Paris-based partner of international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills LLP. He is global head of the firm's Africa practice, as well as co-head of the global mining group. He has extensive experience in Africa having advised almost exclusively on matters in Francophone Africa over the past 25 years, principally in the energy and natural resources sectors. He has been described by recent industry benchmarks as the "guru of Sub-Saharan African oil projects" and "the leading lawyer for mining in francophone Africa". In addition to his experience as a projects lawyer, Stéphane also specialises in risk mitigation and crisis management.
