Nigel is experienced in all aspects of employment law and acts for both businesses and employees. He heads our team and places much emphasis upon providing practical down to earth advice. Much visited areas include the termination of employment relationships, redundancy planning, including mass redundancies, complex Tribunal claims, Settlement Agreements, contract drafting and discrimination claims. Through over twenty years' practising Employment Law Nigel has gained significant experience in most business sectors as diverse as house building, employment agencies, education, retail and care homes . Nigel frequently acts for Senior Executives in bringing all manner of claims and has had particular involvement in discrimination claims. Nationally profiled cases include a positive discrimination case against Gloucestershire Constabulary and claims for senior employees within the NHS the subject of institutionalized race discrimination and sex discrimination.
Nigel has substantial experience of dispute resolution and is one of the region's most experienced Mediators. This has led to Mediation Service Providers engaging him to mentor and train inexperienced and prospective Mediators.
Nigel also has a unique insight into compliance and regulatory matters and has experience of representing the client's interests when regulations have placed them under the spotlight as well as providing advice to prevent clients falling under the spotlight in the first place! The wide range of Regulators with whom Nigel has dealt include Trading Standards, HSE, PhonepayPlus (formerly ICSTIS) and various Regulators of professionals including the BMA. He has a detailed knowledge and understanding of the regulation of the premium rate industry.
