Herman De Bauw joined Eubelius as a partner in 2007. He practises general commercial law, distribution and competition law. He is a recognised expert in market practices law and consumer protection, and a frequent litigator of cases before the national and European courts.

Herman holds a law degree (1981) and a degree in American Studies (1982) from the University of Leuven, as well as an LL.M. from the University of Virginia (1983).

He lectured on market practices law at the University of Leuven from 2007 to 2012. Between 2008 and 2010 he advised the Belgian Minister for Economy on matters of commercial law and, at the request of the federal government, prepared the 2010 Act on Market Practices and Consumer Protection. Since 1988 he has served as the chief editor of the Annuaire Pratiques du commerce et Concurrence, an annual chronicle covering major developments in the field of market practices law, consumer protection and competition law.

Herman is a board member of the Association pour l'Etude de Droit de la Concurrence (LUDC) and is an arbiter for Internet domaine names at the CEPANI Alternative Dispute Resolution.

He is a regular speaker at seminars and the author of numerous articles within his area of expertise.
